For the example, in some State Universites, women who wears the veil is dominant. And also in some government instituions. Moreover in islamic schools that has spread, Hijab is being obliged to wear.
Even in "unusual" area hijab is not taboo to wear. For the example, in National Sports Event (Pekan Olahraga nasional), there are many female athelets who is wearing veil. Iddah Milawati for example. This Female Athelet who wears veil is come from West Java has gained a bronze medal in National Sports Event (PON) XVIII on 2012 last year.
And the greater, the world class sports committee, olympiad, is do not prohibit the female athelets to wear the veil during the game running. Last year, when this big event held in London, England, at least there was 16 athelets who wore veil partook in the game at the sport square.
But oddly enough, in police environment in this country, veil is considered to be "forbidden thing" (except in Aceh). That prohibition is written in Kapolri decree, Skep/702/IX/2005. That decree which do not give the policewomen chance to wear veil as uniforms.
What's the reason? At least, public media wrote three reasons which always said by the police. First, according to the head of public information Polri, because of budget problem. The police doesn't have enough fund to provide veil as the uniform.
if it's true the problem is in the budget, so it is very easy to find the solution. Isn't before the same reason mentioned by the government offices, schools, and private companies when they refused the veil in 1980? In fact, that reason proved to be fake. There is no problem with fund untill now.
If the performance of work is disputed, in fact there is no prolem with policewomen in Aceh wich is obliged to wear veil after the application of syariat Islam.
Third, according to the Kapolri (The Head of The Police of Indonesia), policewomen uniform wich is apply right now is did so on. This rule is apply for the all police of Indonesia (Polri). Until higest of the lowest rank. No discrimination.
If that is the problem, it's not really difficult to find solution. Just change the rule, easy isn't it? Anyway, that rule is released by Kapolri, then it can be changed by Kapolri too.
So, the question, is Mr. Timur Pradopo wants to change it? Allah SWT granted this very valuable chance to Mr. Timur before his leadership calyx is revoked by him (Allah SWT). This chance will never be repeated twice. And, not every top official is granted the chance like this. While there is an opportunity, and while the soul is not revoked from the body yet, take this chance please, Mr. Timur!
Don't let the future, when the muslim policewomen asked in the afterlife why they do'nt wear the fashion that is required by Islam, their index fingers blamed you as the person who take the responsibe for all of it. Wallahu a'lam.
